Terms & Conditions

The terms on which vedanta.study is offered to you. Please read them before using the site or creating a member account.

This website, vedanta.study (the “Site”), is owned and operated by Sekharendu Gupta (“we”, “us”, “our”). The Site offers writings, study material, research tools, interactive activities and a member area containing a personal sādhanā (spiritual practice) tracker — together referred to as the “Service”.

By accessing, browsing or otherwise using the Service you accept these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy Cookie Policy, which forms part of these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

Account

The personal member account created by you at vedanta.study/app/, accessed with a username and password, which gives you access to the daily journal, the Dharma Quest, streaks, achievements and related features.

Member Content

Everything you record inside your Account — journal entries, reflections, discipline and guṇa ratings, scorecards, review notes and similar personal material.

Site Content

Everything published by us on the Site — articles, blogs, summaries, study aids, mindmaps, readers, tools, images, layout and design.

2. Who may use the Service

The teachings of Vedanta belong to everyone, and the reading material on this Site may be freely read by a person of any age. Creating an Account, however, involves storing personal information, and so:

  • If you are eighteen (18) years or older, you may register on your own behalf.
  • If you are between thirteen (13) and seventeen (17) years of age, you may register only with the knowledge and verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian must write to us at info.vedanta.study@gmail.com confirming that consent, and is responsible for the minor’s use of the Account.
  • Accounts are not offered to children under thirteen (13) years of age.

By registering you confirm that the details you provide are true, current and complete, and that you meet the above requirement.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your username and password confidential. Please do not share your login with anyone. You agree to notify us promptly at info.vedanta.study@gmail.com of any unauthorised use of your Account or any other breach of security.

If we have reason to believe your Account has been compromised or misused, we may require you to change your password, or may suspend the Account until the matter is resolved. You may ask us to close your Account at any time (see clause 12).

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and considerately. You shall not:

  • use the Service, or any part of the Site Content, for commercial purposes without our written permission;
  • impersonate any person, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organisation;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, server, database or part of the Site;
  • upload or transmit any virus, worm, malicious code or automated script that interferes with the Site;
  • scrape, harvest, mirror or bulk-download the Site Content;
  • transmit content that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, hateful, harassing or that infringes anyone’s rights;
  • place unreasonable load on the hosting infrastructure or degrade the Service for other users.

We operate a fair-use approach. If your use adversely affects the Service or other members, we may limit, temporarily block or permanently withdraw access.

5. Member Content belongs to you

Your journal entries and practice records are yours. We claim no ownership of Member Content. You grant us only the limited permission necessary to store, back up, display it back to you within your Account, and to generate the charts, streaks and statistics that make the tracker work.

We do not publish Member Content, and we do not share it with third parties. How we handle it — including the limited circumstances in which an individual entry may be viewed, and how anonymous, aggregated statistics are used to improve the application — is set out in our Privacy Policy.

The Service is offered without warranty as to the permanence of data. Please keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

6. Site Content, sources and attribution

The Site is a study resource. Much of the written material has been composed, edited, summarised or arranged with the assistance of artificial-intelligence tools, working from the traditional scriptural corpus and from the teachings of realised masters and scholars — among them Sri A. Parthasarathy, Swami Paramarthananda, Swami Rama Tirtha, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj and Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, and other sages and saints of the tradition.

Such material is presented for educational and non-commercial study purposes, with attribution to the teacher or text wherever the source is known. We claim no ownership of, and assert no rights over, the teachings of these masters or the scriptures themselves. Copyright in the original works and commentaries remains vested in the respective authors, teachers and publishers.

You may read, study, quote and share Site Content for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided you attribute it to vedanta.study and to the original teacher or text where identified. You may not sell it, republish it as your own, or use it commercially without our written permission.

Corrections and takedown: if you are a rights holder, or a student of any of these teachers, and believe material on the Site has been mis-attributed, mis-stated or reproduced beyond what is fair, please write to info.vedanta.study@gmail.com. We will review the matter promptly and correct or remove the material as appropriate. This is an intellectual and educational project, and accuracy matters more to us than volume. If you notice a mistake anywhere in the research, please tell us the page and what is wrong, and we will correct it.

About the research on this Site. The research pages, summaries and study notes are prepared with the help of artificial intelligence. They may contain mistakes — in translation, interpretation, attribution or detail — and should be checked against the original texts and, ideally, with a teacher. The content is inspired by the scriptures and by the works of many philosophers, teachers and sages; the Site owner claims no rights over their teachings, which belong to them and to their publishers. The only intention is to help seekers research and better understand Vedānta with the aid of different scriptures.

7. Nature of the Service — important

The Site offers philosophical and spiritual study material. It is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, legal or financial advice, and nothing on the Site is a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional.

The sādhanā tracker is a self-reflection aid, not a clinical or diagnostic instrument. Its scores, levels, badges and charts are simply a mirror for your own observation; they measure nothing objective and diagnose nothing. If you are experiencing distress or a mental-health difficulty, please seek help from a qualified professional or a trusted person in your life.

You use the Service, and act on anything you read here, at your own discretion and risk.

8. Fees, courses and donations

At present the Service is offered free of charge, and no payment is collected through the Site.

We may in future offer paid courses, or invite voluntary donations. If we do, the applicable fees, refund terms and payment arrangements will be published at that time and will apply in addition to these Terms. Any payment would be processed by an independent third-party payment gateway; we would not receive or store your card or banking details.

9. Third-party links and services

The Site links to external resources — including YouTube, Instagram, and other Vedanta organisations — and loads certain technical components (fonts, icons, charting libraries) from third-party providers. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

We may change, improve, correct, suspend or withdraw any part of the Site at any time, with or without notice, including for maintenance and upgrades. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability and security.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, revenue, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Suspension, closure and termination

You may close your Account at any time by writing to info.vedanta.study@gmail.com. We will action the request, and delete the associated data, within thirty (30) days.

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, or where required by law. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — shall survive.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, liability or reasonable expense arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of the rights of any third party.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Pune, Maharashtra, India.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date and takes effect on posting. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance. Please revisit this page occasionally.

16. General

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in respect of the Service.

17. Contact

For any question about these Terms, or any suggestion for the Site, please write to info.vedanta.study@gmail.com. We read every message and normally reply within a few days.
